This particular date has a big red fat cross in my calendar, because that’s the day I’ll be turning my back to Denmark and everything I know, and continue my life journey in Brisbane and I just can’t wait. These days are just filled with excitement and also a lot of back and forth between places and people saying my goodbyes and that will probably continue till the plane take off on Thursday, till then it’s just about enjoying my last couple of days. I really can’t believe it’s this close now, like this time next week, everything will be absolutely different! Crazyyy

One of the things I look forward to the most, is just getting to a new country where nobody knows who I am. It’s like getting handed a book with no pages, and being able to rewrite it in your own way over again.

I’ve been thinking of a way that I can document my trip and give you guys a closer look into the awesome journey than just the usual blogposts and I can’t wait to show you guys the new direction A Common Obsession is taking. Until then you can connect with me on snapchat (username aniyonkinzo) and watch me as I make the last preparations and saying the last goodbyes.

Ps. Here’s a picture of Whitehaven Beach which is located in the same state as Brisbane. Jealous yet? 😉

Talk to you later,

Goodbye Denmark, hello……

AUSTRALIA, Brisbane to be more exact. Yup, you read it correctly, your boy and A Common Obsession is heading down under to grow and expand my horizon. This article comes in continuation of this article, where the big “what now” question was raised. I now I have the answer and the next chapter in my life, will be lived in Australia.

I honestly can’t get my hands down of how stoked and excited I am. And a little scared actually, but that is to be expected I guess. This decision, at this point in my life, make so much sense for me, it’s the right time to leave the safety net I’ve called home my entire life and see what the world has to offer.

I came across two quotes that really resonated with me and gave me further validation that this was the right thing for me to do.” Your comfort zone will also be your failure zone” &” A comfort zone is a beautiful place but nothing ever grows there”. I think there is a whole lot of truth in them. I feel like indirectly what they are saying is that you shouldn’t be so resistant to change, because old ways won’t open new doors!

Sometimes a change of circumstances can be just what you need to find and create your own path. While change is hard, sometimes it’s necessary because the equivalent to change is evolvement, and that’s why change is so important because it enables us to evolve and grow as a people on so many different levels. No matter how you twist and turn it, there are no substitutes for life experience, and I feel like it’s my time to go out and get richer in life experiences, adventures, new acquaintances and see what the world offers from a different view.

I also think that experiencing a new country, a new culture and meet new people and challenges is one of the greatest inspirations sources, so where ever this journey takes me, you guys will have front row seats here on the blog 😉

Talk to you later,

So what now?

Post-graduation- the popping of champagne and partying until sunrise is quickly coming to an end. It’s a bit difficult to comprehend that I am actually done with my bachelor’s degree. For some education means nothing and for others it means everything. Coming from an academic family, education has always been a high priority and something we just do without asking questions. The plan was always to start my master’s degree right after but I realized I may not be ready to go there yet. Not only does my head need a study break but I am craving to learn things in a new way. I’m craving to see new things and just live for a while without an actual plan.

The past few years I have been influenced and inspired by so many things and so many people, which has made me realize that there is so much more to explorer outside the classroom. The last six months or so, one particular sister of mine has been a pain in my ass pushing me to decide what I want, secretly she just want me to travel the world- you see by the time she was 23 she had been to more than 15 countries, studied in 3 different countries and finished her masters, I know right! She wants me to get out of my extremely comfortable world and explore as much as I can and you know what she’s right. I’m very comfortable, I live at my parents as the last one out of six so everything is served on a silver plate; The only thing I do is pretty much wash my own ass, so it’s safe to say that it’s time to come out of this bobble and get more real life experience.

So by the end of this summer I will be taking the leap, the destination is still unknown but will be booked soon. Thank you for your continued support, I hope you enjoyed this more personal post and I can’t wait to share these new challenges, new surroundings and new adventures with you.

Talk to you soon

A C O Interview

  1. Why did you start a blog?
Starting a blog for me was a way to create a place where I set the rules and I could portray my own personal style and express my thoughts and inspirations, the way I wanted to.
  2. Where do you get inspiration from?
As a creative person, my surroundings and the people I meet plays a huge role in where I get my inspiration from. I get inspired by nature, experiences and interacting with new people, cultures and by travelling
  3. What describes your style?
My style is very diverse, I love colors and prints but my style also has a touch of Scandinavian minimalism. I don’t think my style can be put in a box, because I love to create my outfits by taking different items and pieces from different style worlds and pairing them together.
  4. Why the name ‘A Common Obsession’
Common Obession comes from the thing I blog about, which are common obessions for a lot of people, I don’t know a person who doesn’t want to look good, to eat good, to travel, to live a healthy well-balanced life, so that’s where common obsessions comes from. The A comes from my name Alix, so it’s Alix’ obsessions, but also common obsessions. Get it? 😉
  5. A tip on how to always look good when you leave your house?
That’s an easy one. You just have to think of your crush and every time you are about to step out the door, just imagine that you are going to bump into her at the central station, the mall or where ever, and ask yourself if that’s how you want to look if you bump into her? 😉 that’s how I keep myself motivated, although the chances of meeting Gigi Hadid in the streets of Copenhagen are very slim! Haha
  6. How much time do you spend on social media?
Probably too much, haha. I’m a big fan of social media, I think it’s the perfect tools to interact with my followers and fellow blogger’s and show another side of myself. Especially Instagram, I love how you can discover and be inspired by so many great people and of course the numerous memes accounts, that can make you laugh your a** off.
  7. Who do you think is the most stylish man in the world
That’s a tough one!! So many fashion icons out there, but one name that always comes to mind is Kanye West. I love his sense of style, he aspires to be different and is not afraid to own it and challenge himself and you got to admire his confidence. His affinity for avant-garde fashion mixed with prep-school, retro and hip-hop swagger makes him a fashion forward leader
  8. Describe the perfect date?
I don’t believe in the perfect date as something you can create, a perfect date in my opinion is all about the connection with the person you out with; when you go out with a girl who makes your heart skip a beat, gives you butterflies and makes you a little nervous because you don’t want to mess it up. Then when you’re on the date the personalities clique and the conversation never stops, that’s the ultimate perfect date.

I thought it was time for you to get to know the guy behind all the words and outfits, so here is 21 facts about me 😉 Don’t Judge me and feel free to leave whatever weird, funny, cool fact about you in the comments, so I can get to know you better as well.

  1. One of my bad habits is, when I like a song, I absolutely KILL it. I mean really kill it, one time I listened to the same song for 4 hours straight. It so bad, that when my sibling were still living home, they wouldn’t tell me what songs they liked because they knew I would play it nonstop if I liked it too.
  2. On my sophomore year in high school, I got so drunk at a party that it ended with my brother’s girlfriend taking me home to her, where i slept on some pillows on the ground. I woke up to a big surprise, as I looked down myself I quickly noticed a big wet spot – yep, you guessed it, I HAD PEED ON MYSELF.
  3. One of the most embarrasing moments of my life happened in fourth grade during a math class. My teacher asked everyone how they had solved an equation and the whole class was like -”I did it this way”. Then I was like ”I also did it that way” but my teacher knowing I wasn’t that good at math, specifically asked me, how I had solved it and I just didn’t know what to do – because of course I hadn’t done it! This day today, I can still remember the embarrassment and feel the sweat coming down my forehead!
  4. I have a rule about never missing a school party; the only one I have ever missed was my sophomore year in high school. Read #3 and do the math 😉
  5. When I get drunk, I like to call people and go on personal rants about how much I love them and what not, and my brother, Bennit and Sis, Josie, have been on the receiving end of to many of these calls! So if you don’t think I’m being loving enough, just wait till I get drunk and call me.

  10. Being the youngest of 6 has it’s perks, some of my birthday gifts included a Macbook Pro, a fujitsu siemens laptop, an Iphone, drivers license and my ticket to Burundi in 2014. 15. I am a die-hard Game of Thrones fan! Haven’t read the books but still. The funny thing is my sister literally had to convince me to start watching it, because I was like ”noo it’s not for me” now the biggest day of the year is 4.24.16 !
  16. I have never fractured anything. I hope I didn’t just jinx myself right there haha
  17. When my first niece was born 12 years ago, I used to eat her left over baby food
